About Me

Hi!

I’m Chris, a security specialist and indie game dev from bonnie Scotland with a knack for complex systems and problem-solving. I approach challenges methodically, but I’m equally driven by curiosity and the thrill of discovering unexpected solutions when they just pop.

In security engineering, I design and analyze systems to anticipate and prevent vulnerabilities both in the physical and network domain before they can be exploited. My work spans networks, applications, and emerging technologies, with a focus on translating technical complexity into practical, actionable solutions. I take pride in building security that is as elegant as it is resilient. I am coming up on 25 years of experience in offensive & defensive security and secure network design; I witnessed many of the events that shaped the industry and was involved in the response to several of them. In my day job I lead the security team in a landmark office space, ensuring the safety and security of hundreds of people across a bunch of household-name businesses.

In the realm of game development, I craft interactive experiences that balance narrative depth, strategic mechanics, and player agency. I enjoy exploring & creating worlds that feel lived-in and systems that reward curiosity and experimentation, creating spaces where discovery is as important as the destination. I'm currently working on Escape From REDACTED, a single player procedural maze crawler, due for release in late 2026/early 2027.

Outside of professional work, I tinker with electronics and open-source hardware projects, experiment with drones and autonomous aerial systems, and explore languages; digital, human, or otherwise. Analytical yet curious, precise yet playful, I like to see how things work, and sometimes, how they could work better.

I am open to freelance cybersecurity opportunities, including testing, secure design consulting and full-scope security audits in line with ISO/IEC 27001:2022, UK CAF v4, NIST CSF v2 and ENISA/ECCF.
